Well it happened, the first real snow of the year came last night and it came in with a bang. One of the not so joyous parts of living where we live is the wind. It can be pretty intense and very constant at times. Last night the storm came in howling, Jeremy and I were awake just waiting for the kids to come in to our room scared, but they all slept through it fine, unlike their parents. However, when we woke up this morning it was truly beautiful outside. I love the look of fresh snow, and I am happy to have some before Christmas, it seems more festive outside with it. I also would rather have a lot of snow outside when it's cold then it just being cold with no snow. The kids were so anxious to get outside today. Playing outside always starts with the 1/2 hour ritual of putting on all of the snow clothes, and 20 minutes after getting outside Trey is ready to come in, but we convinced him to stay a little longer. Paige's new glove ripped about a 1/2 hour after being outside and Sadie's snow pants that seemed big last year are floods this year, hey, she's related to her mother! Still, it is so fun to watch them outside, and to hear them laugh!!!
Here is Paige striking a pose out in the snow.
Here is Sadie, hiding behind the deck. Here is Trey showing off his new gloves. He is so happy to not have pink ones on. I only bought pink and purple gloves for the girls and last year when I finally needed to find snow gloves I couldn't find any his size anywhere so he was forced to wear pink all year, oh well, they did the job. Trey had a really exciting day yesterday. There is a coloring contest in our little county. A coloring book insert comes in the newspaper the end of November. Each page in the coloring book is sponsored by a local business. The kids color the pictures and turn them in to the businesses. Well, one of Trey's pictures was picked as the only winner of one of the places. He was so excited, especially because it was his train picture that he had taken so much time on (because of his obsession of trains). He went to the place yesterday and they gave him a present and he got his picture taken to be put in the newspaper. He was so happy that he went into a giggling fit and literally fell on the floor when he found out yesterday. Unfortunately, Sadie was devastated. She loves art and coloring and drawing, it is her favorite thing to do and she has been coloring since the day the book came and she turned in a lot more than Trey and of course didn't win. I felt so bad for her, but it also is a lesson in life, we don't always win, and if she takes after her parents she likely won't win most of the time :)!

Hey,
It sure looks cold! I'm such a baby that I have been complaining about it being in the 50s here in CA. We'll have to catch up soon.
Kelli
Hey Katie- I'm so glad you found me. This is a great way to keep in touch a little better. I can't believe how grown up and beautiful/handsome all of your kids are. HAving kids makes you realize how fast time really goes. I'm glad for a white Christmas too, but man it's cold! So good to hear from you, Emily

So much fun. I'm so impressed you got photos in the snow already. You're so on the ball. Congrats to Trey for winning the contest.
Hey! Miley and I will have to take a drive up there to see you one of these days. If I can work in the morning, then I'm usually done by 11:00 and bored for the rest of the day. She's getting really big!! Congrats to Trey! I used to love coloring contests, but I only won once. Dang it! Keep in touch and let me know what days are the best for you for visitors.
